Seychelles: Development of an ICT Competency Framework for Teachers
UNESCO will support the development of ICT Competency Framework for Teachers (ICT-CFT) for Seychelles through a 2-day workshop scheduled to take place from 4 to 5 April 2016 in Seychelles. This workshop is a response to a national priority request from Seychelles that highlighted the need for contextualizing UNESCO's ICT Competency Framework for Teachers to its local context as expressed by representatives from Seychelles during UNESCO's Colloquium on ICT and teacher training in Eastern Africa that was held from 25-27 November 2015 in Nairobi, Kenya.
The main objectives of the workshop are to: establish the required competencies for teachers to use ICTs in Education in Seychelles; determine priorities of teachers in using ICTs in Education; and establish a work plan for teachers in Seychelles top have relevant teacher training courses that integrate ICTs in Education.
Participants to the workshop will comprise of education professionals, curriculum development officers, assessment development officers, representatives from relevant institutes and ministries, primary and secondary school teachers, and relevant partner organizations in Seychelles.
This activity is a direct follow-up to the implementation of the Paris OER Declaration that was adopted in June 2012 at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France. It is also part of UNESCO’s continued efforts of promoting the application of ICTs to enhance the quality of and access to education, including the stimulation of production, sharing and access to open educational resources (OER).
