Second Expert Consultation and Planning Meeting for the Project "Sustainability Begins with Teachers in Central Asia" in Almaty

This event brings together country focal points on Education for Sustainable Development and representatives of Central Asia Regional Environmental Centre (CAREC) and Swedish International Centre of Education for Sustainable Development (SWEDESD), Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) and other partners. It will report on project implementation in Central Asia and design training materials and agenda for the first Sub-regional workshop “Sustainability Begins with Teachers in Central Asia”.

The event is coordinated in cooperation with UNESCO Headquarters and UNESCO Office in Tashkent, UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, with support of Japan Funds-in-Trust.

The project “Sustainability Begins with Teachers in Central Asia” focuses on the GAP Priority Action Area 3 - Building capacities of educators and trainers, being implemented in Southern Africa, Central Asia and South East Asia.

The aim of the meeting is to discuss the implementation of project "Sustainability begins with Teachers in Central Asia" in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and plan a subregional workshop for teacher education institutions in June 2017. In 2 days the focal points will agree on the plan for subregional workshop, report on project progress of their respective countries, receive consultations of experts from CAREC, UNESCO, SWEDESD and APCEIU on project implementation and aims of the upcoming workshop.
