Science, Technology and Innovation in the context of ongoing discussions related to Sustainable Development Goals

UNESCO and the International Council for Science (ICSU) are organizing on 9 December 2013 a round table discussion on “Science in Support of Future Sustainable Development Goals “.
As a contribution to the 6th session of the General Assembly Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals (OWG/SDG), this side event will provide concrete solutions for the production and sharing of policy relevant knowledge for the design, monitoring and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Post 2015 development agenda in general.

The discussions will reveal challenges and opportunities that can result from linking knowledge and knowledge systems to policy processes with a view of maximizing on the opportunities and overcoming the challenges. The event will advance existing discussions of the of the role of STI in the SDGs by sharing the lessons learnt from the global partnership of Future Earth and presenting its valued added for the activities of the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development.
