Why is education important to the different challenges mentioned in Target 4.7 of Sustainable Development Goal 4? How can the various educational initiatives – on sustainable development, global citizenship, peace, human rights, intercultural understanding and so on – be synergized for maximum effect? What are the connections between Target 4.7 and other SDGs?

Through a thematic approach focusing on the importance and content of education, this side event, organized by UNESCO as part of the 66th United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI)/Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Conference, will provide a forum for a panel of experts and participants to answer these questions, share promising practices, discuss challenges and solutions for the achievement of Target 4.7.
