Regional Training Workshop on the fight against trafficking in cultural property for Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania and Tunisia
This workshop is organized to contribute to the establishment of a long-term strategy on all topics relating to culture, and in particular to the fight against trafficking in cultural property.
The workshop includes a legal training composed of three modules covering international and national legislation, as well as the modalities for return and restitution. It also offers two operational training modules on the use of tools developed among others by UNESCO, UNIDROIT, WCO and Interpol on the one hand and, on the other hand, the role of the police and customs in the fight against illicit trafficking; the latter module is implemented in close cooperation with the Spanish police.
It also develops in partnership with local authorities an awareness-raising programme specifically designed for young people, local communities and tourists.
This event is financially supported by the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AECID) and jointly organized by the UNESCO’s Cultural Heritage Protection Treaties Section and the UNESCO Office in Rabat, with the support of the Government of Spain.
