Promoting Cultural Heritage and Diversity through Ceramic Arts Capacity-Building, Development and Exchange between China, Africa and the Arab States

This is a four year programme, each of which is broken down into two phases. The first phase of the programme, which took place in Jingdezhen (China) from 20 to 26 October 2012, was an opportunity for master ceramists from China to share their know-how, techniques and practices with young ceramics students from Morocco, Tunisia and Gabon. During this time, the students also had the opportunity to attend the China Jingdezhen International Ceramic Fair, which took place at the Great China Museum in Jingdezhen.<br /><br />During the second phase of the programme, which is taking place in February 2013, the master ceramists from China will be invited to the Institut des arts traditionnels de Meknès (Morocco), the l'Institut Supérieur de Beaux-arts à Tunis (Tunisia) and the Ecole nationale d'art et manufacture (Gabon) to continue the exchange of knowledge, experience and techniques that began at the Jingdezhen Ceramics Arts Institute during the first phase of the programme. They will also come to UNESCO Headquarters in Paris to discuss the implementation of the programme and the preparation for the programme cycle 2013-14. A closing ceremony marking the end of the pilot phase of the programme took place in Libreville on 27 February last.
