Post-Earthquake Recovery of Cultural Heritage in Nepal
The devastating earthquakes that struck Nepal on 25 April and 12 May 2015 caused enormous loss to several cultural heritage sites located in the seven World Heritage Monument Zones of the Kathmandu Valley.
The workshop will build capacities of DoA staff and concerned stakeholders, to develop a systematic methodology for undertaking decisions on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of earthquake damaged monuments and sites through documentation, investigation, the development of technical interventions and implementation. It will also develop a vision, guidelines and process for the recovery of heritage settlements in order to retain and recover their tangible and
intangible values while ensuring safety and upgrade of the living environment.
