At the request of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (Decision 9.COM 13.e, Decision 10.COM 9 and Decision 11.COM 6), UNESCO is organizing an open-ended intergovernmental working group meeting from 11 to 13 June 2017 in Chengdu, China to lay the foundation upon which an overall results framework of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage could be constructed. This meeting is generously funded and hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and the Center for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in Chengdu.
The three-day meeting in Chengdu will gather some 200 participants from around the world. At this meeting, the preliminary results framework for the Convention (with proposed objectives, time-frames, quantitative and qualitative indicators, and benchmarks) of the Expert meeting that took place in Beijing, China in 2016, will be elaborated for examination at the twelfth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Republic of Korea in December 2017.
