UNESCO Dakar celebrates the International Day for Girls in ICTs, within the framework of the Organization's YouthMobile Initiative. The day will bring together major IT experts, young women from the IT industry, as well as female students from different schools in Senegal to debate on ideas to involve more young girls in ICTs.
Contributing to the global YouthMobile Initiative, the UNESCO Regional Office in Dakar, in partnership with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Senegal, Sonatel and Google, is organizing a series of conferences, activities and workshops with the aim of empowering girls through capacity building activities, in the use of technologies, for skills development, innovation and increased employment opportunities. These activities are part of UNESCO's effort to promote gender equality in ICTs and quality education.

The YouthMobile Initiave strives to provide young people with the high-level skills and confidence to develop, promote and sell locally relevant mobile apps that solve local issues of sustainable development and provide employment.
