National Launch of 2016 Global Education Monitoring Report
The Global Education Monitoring Report 2016 will be launched in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The event is organized by the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO, Mongolia Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sport, UNICEF Mongolia country office and the UNESCO Beijing office. This event is also supported by the Global Education Report Monitoring Team at UNESCO Headquarters, UNESCO Institute of Statistics Unit in Bangkok and UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in Bangkok.
The event aims to raise awareness of the SDG4-Education 2030 Agenda and initiate dialogue among all education stakeholders. The launch will mobilize all education stakeholders such as students, teachers, academics, education officials, policy makers and parliamentarians to discuss the localization of SDG4-Education 2030 at country level.
The event is an excellent platform to review progress in localizing SDG 4-ED 2030 and to establish a national coordinating mechanism to guide and monitor the progress. The discussion will focus on Mongolia’s key priorities, purpose, required actions and key indicators for evaluation to ensure effective monitoring of the regional and global implementation of SDG4-ED2030.
Every year since 2016, UNESCO calls for member states to launch their Global Education Monitoring Report (GEMR) to track progress in line with the global launch in September of every year. The main purpose of the Launch in Mongolia is to raise awareness and track progress of the implementation and localization of SDG4 and the Education 2030 Agenda at a country level. The launch in Mongolia is reaffirming the commitment of the member states to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals at a country level. The highlights of the 2016 report help to facilitate dialogue among education stakeholders in Mongolia to align SDG4 Education 2030 priorities with national plans, policies and strategies in Mongolia. It would be an excellent opportunity to align with the UN Development Assistance Framework.
The launch in Mongolia also aims to further expand the effectiveness and understanding of the SDG4 – ED 2030 Implementation Roadmap for Asia and the Pacific which was initiated and agreed upon at the first and second Asia-Pacific Meeting on Education 2030 (APMED I & II).
The event is organized by the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO, Mongolia Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sport, UNICEF Mongolia country office and UNESCO Beijing office on 14th April 2016, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The discussion will focus on Mongolia’s key priorities, purpose, required actions and indicators for evaluation to ensure effective monitoring of regional and global implementation of SDG4-ED2030.
