National Education for Sustainable Development Workshop and Appreciation Event for Jayagiri Centre

The Appreciation Event will bring together prominent speakers to discuss and to share their experiences in promoting Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), and strengthen their commitments to Education beyond 2030. The showcasing of experiences from Jayagiri Centre, laureate of the 2015 UNESCO-Japan Prize on ESD, and other ESD programme initiatives will help the audience understand and support Quality Education and Gender Equality as important goals of the SDGs.

The Appreciation Event will bring together prominent speakers to discuss and to share their experiences in promoting Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), and strengthen their commitments to Education beyond 2030. The showcasing of experiences from Jayagiri Centre, laureate of the 2015 UNESCO-Japan Prize on ESD, and other ESD programme initiatives will help the audience understand and support Quality Education and Gender Equality as important goals of the SDGs.

Participating in the Appreciation Event will allow national government, education actors, donors, international organizations, media and local communities to strengthen their networks and partnerships. A number of publications will be available to allow audiences to explore specific ESD topics in Indonesia.

Furthermore, the specific objectives of this event are the following:
- To appreciate Indonesian achievements related to the UNESCO-Japan Prize on ESD and to disseminate these achievements to the public.
- To support the Indonesian government's aims towards the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, for achieving SDG 4 on Education.
- To support the Indonesian government's efforts of ESD programmes at national and district level.
- To provide understanding related to quality education and gender equality as important factors for achieving the SDGs.
- To strengthen partnership among governments at national and district level, education practitioners, donors, national and international organizations, community, and media to explore ESD in Indonesia.
