National Dialogue on Enhancing Social Inclusion in Public Policies in Timor‐Leste
UNESCO and Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO will hold a National Dialogue on Enhancing Social Inclusion in Public Policies in Timor‐Leste in Dili on 28 June 2016. This will be the culminating event in the framework of the UNESCO-Malaysia initiative that brings together national stakeholders to assess and enhance social inclusion in public policies through the application of cutting-edge social science policy tools and methodologies. The National Dialogue will showcase the results, as well as the analytical tools employed during the policy assessment to a wider audience of national stakeholders, international partners and experts.
The National Working Group conducting the study is chaired by the Timor-Leste National Commission for UNESCO and composed of researchers, experts and policymakers from major universities and key ministries.
Social Inclusion as a concept has assumed a centre-stage of policy discourse, especially within the new SDG framework. It is an aspiration for affluent and developing countries alike. Understanding and measuring social inclusion in various policy contexts is a new analytical frontier for the national governments, international organizations and academic communities. This pioneering project, funded through the Malaysian Funds-in-Trust framework, is an important contribution to this global effort.
Policymakers and the representatives of academic community and civil society are invited to the National Dialogue, to take part in the discussion about the results of the policy assessment, to learn about the emerging analytical tools, and to share their own experience on promoting social inclusion through public policy.
