Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Programme for a Culture of Peace and Dialogue
The Third Steering Committee meeting of the “Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Programme for a Culture of Peace and Dialogue” will take place on 11 September 2015 at UNESCO Headquarters, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in October 2010 as well as the Funding Agreement signed in May 2011 between UNESCO and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in support of the Organization’s work on culture of peace and intercultural dialogue.
The implementation of the Programme mobilizes different Sectors at UNESCO Headquarters: Education, Communication and Information as well as Social and Human Sciences, the latter of which ensures its overall coordination.
Field Offices such as UNESCO’s Office in Beirut, being also the Regional Bureau for Education in the Arab States, and the Rabat office, are also directly involved and responsible for the development of new dialogue-based tools, modalities and cooperation frameworks for knowledge creation and the building of more peaceful and inclusive societies.
The meeting will convene representatives from the donor country, including the King Abdul Aziz National Centre for Dialogue, the Permanent Delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to UNESCO, and from UNESCO’s Secretariat, to review the results obtained during the Programme’s Phase I (2012-2014) and to assess progress achieved in the implementation of Phase II, which started in September 2014.
