Meeting of the Approval Committee of the Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport
The Approval Committee of the Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport convenes twice annually to determine new applications. The first meeting of the 2016-2017 biennium will take place at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on 29 April 2016.
The new Committee was elected in October 2015 by the fifth session of the Conference of Parties to the Convention (COP 5). It comprises six States Parties representatives (Bahamas, China, Finland, Oman, the Russian Federation and South Africa) and a representative of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Being the first meeting of the biennium, the session will open with the election of the Committee’s Chairperson. Discussions will focus on the follow-up to COP 5, and new anti-doping projects will be submitted for analysis and approval by the Committee members.
The Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport was set forth in Article 17 of the International Convention against Doping in Sport.
The Fund aims to help States Parties to meet their obligations under the Convention, by providing financial support to anti-doping initiatives (education, policy advice, capacity-building projects).
