Media Round Table Forum On Rights, Safety and Security of Journalists in Nakuru County, Kenya
UNESCO will support the Kenya correspondence Association (KCA) to organise media round table forum on rights, safety and security of journalists in Kenya. This event aims to promote an enabling environment for freedom of expression, press freedom and journalistic safety.
The sensitization forum will also address the information and awareness gap among the correspondents and emphasis the need for basic safety and security awareness at work; policy and legal advocacy initiatives in the media sector; and the increasing challenges that face journalists in Kenya especially towards the General Elections due in August 2017.
This activity falls within the framework of UNESCO’s Main Line of Action to promote an enabling environment for freedom of expression, press freedom and journalistic safety, and generate knowledge and awareness of freedom of expression and media development in Kenya.
