MAB Programme for Protected Areas. Benefits and Perspectives

Open to the public, the event - organised in the framework of the Akamas Project of ECoC PAFOS2017 - aims at informing the local communities and other stakeholders of the Akamas peninsula, about and its World Network of Biosphere Reserves.

The conference will present the benefits and prospects of designated areas as Biosphere Reserves. Representatives from UNESCO Biosphere Reserves in the Mediterranean region will present their experiences and highlight good practices from their sites.

The conference is organized under the auspices of the Cyprus National Commission for UNESCO. It is supported by the Department of Environment, the Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO-ECSDE), and Kpe–Salamius Network Centres of Environmental Education of the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute.
