Launch of the Reproduction of Art and Cultural Heritage project
Expert meeting on the theme of reproduction of art and cultural heritage.
This roundtable discussion on the reproduction of art and cultural heritage is to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the 1867 Convention for Promoting Universal Reproductions of Works of Art. The purpose of the Convention is to encourage the exchange of “cast, electrotype, photographic or any other type” of reproductions among major European museums. The issue of accessibility and related ICTs is one of the key elements of UNESCO’s global Recommendation on the Protection and Promotion of Museums and Collections, their Diversity and their Role in Society, adopted in November 2015. The roundtable discussion around this topic is intended to serve as a platform for experts to share their knowledge and innovative ideas on how to deal with this fundamental issue.
