Kazakh boxer Serik Sapiyev to be named UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Sport (2013-2015)

UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova will designate the famous Kazakh boxer Mr Serik Sapiyev as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Sport for a two-year period (2013-2015). This title will be bestowed upon Mr Sapiyev in recognition of his commitment to promoting education and sport programmes in favour of young people in Kazakhstan, his charitable activities, and his dedication to the ideals and aims of the Organization.
Mr Serik Sapiyev is a two-time world champion and a winner of the London Olympic Games 2012. The professional career of Mr Sapiyev is marked by the gold medals in the prestigious international competitions, which took place in Zhuhai (China) in 2009, in Guangzhou (China) in 2010, in Chicago (USA) in 2007, in Mianyang City (China) in 2005, and obviously, London Olympic Games in 2012.
