The Inception Symposium will take place at UNESCO Headquarters on 5-6 April 2016 and will constitute the first face-to-face meeting between Steering Committee Project members with experts in the area of sustainability science and with representatives from UNESCO Member States. This meeting will focus on framing the project’s goals and objectives, as well as defining its main expected results. The envisaged deliverable will be guidelines for key general policy.
This project aims at fostering dialogues and disseminating concrete policy messages that will assist UNESCO Member States to introduce the approach of sustainability science in responding to global challenges, through the organization of three symposia.
The three symposia will showcase inputs and know-how of several stakeholders including policymakers, academia and scientists, UNESCO Member States as well as institutions and organizations with relevant experience in this type of multidisciplinary emerging approach and in sustainability-related issues, at multiple levels - from national to global.
