UNESCO, the Permanent Delegation of the Arab Republic of Egypt to UNESCO and the International Association of Friends of Egyptian Museums jointly organize a conference entitled “Three Museums of Egypt: Museum of Islamic Art, National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and Graeco-Roman Museum in Alexandria".

The Conference will take place on Wednesday October 8 at 6.00 pm at UNESCO House.

This conference is an opportunity to discuss the most effective ways to strengthen cooperation in the field of museums, including the immediate mobilization of UNESCO to support the reconstruction of the Museum of Islamic Art in Cairo after the explosion that damaged it earlier this year.

The Director-General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, the Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of the Arab Republic of Egypt to UNESCO, H.E. Dr Mohamed Sameh Amr, and Honorary President of the International Association of Friends of Egyptian Museums, Dr Boutros Boutros-Ghali, will open the conference to be held with the presence of H.E. Dr Mamdouh Mohamed Gad El Damaty, Minister of Antiquities of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Director-General of ICOM, Anne Catherine Hauglustaine-Robert.
