The workshop on the Sandwatch programme aims to build the capacity of trainers to teach about climate change, environmental awareness, as well as sustainable coastal and river protection.
The overarching objectives are:
(1) to assist trainers in helping community members to develop technical competences and apply their information and local knowledge to the wise management and enhancement of their beaches and rivers through Sandwatch methods of monitoring, analyzing, and developing sustainable approaches to the problems and conflicts of the beaches and rivers;
(2) to reduce the level of pollution in adjoining seas, oceans, creeks and rivers;
(3) to involve schools, teachers and students in the scientific observation, measurement and analysis of beaches or rivers using an inter-disciplinary approach;
(4) to share information on beach and river environment data through social media and database.
