On the occasion of the celebration of the fourth edition of the International Day for Sport for Development and Peace, the National Coordination of the Pan-African Youth Network for the Culture of Peace (PAYNCOP) with the support of the Libreville Office organizes a sensitization of young people to the values of sport through the screening of a film which recounts the introduction of football in Germany at the end of the 19th century, showing, among other things, how sport can be a means of fraternization beyond the classroom Social partnerships.

With a view to highlighting important aspects of life and history and sensitizing international opinion to a number of problems that affect the future of humanity, the United Nations system is accustomed to proclaiming Decades, years, months, weeks or international days. Celebrations and demonstrations related to these decades, years, months, weeks or days always aim to contribute, throughout the world, to the realization of the ideals of peace and development that have presided over To the establishment of the United Nations system.

Proclaimed on April 6 by Resolution 67/296 of the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted on 23 August 2013, International Day for Sport for Development and Peace is to be placed in this context.

With this proclamation, which extended the 2005 International Year of Sport and Physical Education, the United Nations and its Member States wished to recall and emphasize that sport as a means of promoting education, development and peace By helping to create a climate of tolerance and understanding, promoting cooperation, solidarity, social inclusion and health at the local, national and international levels.

Recognizing the positive influence that sport can have on the promotion of human rights and economic and social development, UNESCO, as the lead UN agency for sport and physical education, Quickly supported the initiative of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

The celebration of the fourth edition of this International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is an opportunity for the National Coordination of the Pan-African Youth Network for the Culture of Peace (PAYNCOP) to organize awareness-raising among young people Values ​​of sport through the screening of a film about the introduction of football in Germany at the end of the 19th century, showing, among other things, how sport can be a means of fraternisation beyond social classes.

At the end of this screening, the participants will also be invited to reflect together on the idea of ​​a joint activity on the link between sport and a culture of peace which could be implemented in 2018 as part of the celebration of the International Day for Sport for Development and Peace.

This activity to raise young people's awareness of the values ​​of sport, on the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, is an initiative of the Pan-African Network of Youth for the Culture of Peace (PAYNCOP) Supported by the UNESCO Office in Libreville.

The venue chosen for the implementation of this activity is the meeting room of the UNESCO Representation at the United Nations House.
