Best practices in higher education: the way forward. Second Caribbean conference on higher education
The main objective of the conference is to review the major challenges and achievements of the higher education and develop an action plan to address these major challenges. The meeting is a follow-up to the first UNESCO 2010 Caribbean Conference on Higher Education in Paramaribo in Suriname.
The role and relevance of higher education to socio-economic development for Small Island developing States will be the main focus of discussion. The major themes of the conference are Quality Assurance and Recognition of Studies, Titles and Diplomas, Research Management and Impact, and the Financing of Higher Education. The major stakeholders such Ministries of Education, UN Agencies, Development partners, Public and private Universities and Tertiary institutions, NGOs in the Tertiary Education are expected to participate. Seventy participants from 20 Latin America and Caribbean Countries are expected attend the conference. The major outcome of the conference is to issue an action plan to strengthen higher education institutions in the Caribbean.
The conference is organized by UNESCO Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNESCO/IESALC) in partnership with The University of the West Indies (The UWI) and UNESCO Kingston Cluster Office for the Caribbean..
