Analysing the National Media Safety Landscape for Journalists in Kenya
UNESCO in partnership with African Media Initiative (AMI) will organise a one day Media Stakeholders meeting themed “Analysing the National Media Safety Landscape for Journalists in Kenya”. The objective of the meeting is to launch a Journalist Safety Indicators Research for Kenya scheduled to be carried out from May to November 2015.
The stakeholders meeting will attract 25 participants from, Media Council of Kenya; Ministry of Information and Communication; Kenya Union of Journalists; Kenya Editors Guild; Media Owners Association of Kenya; Kenya Correspondents Association; Association of Media Women in Kenya; Kenya Media Programme; Media Policy and Research Centre; Kenya National Human Rights Commission; Kenya Police Spokesperson; Kenya National Commission for UNESCO; Article 19 Kenya; Ford Foundation; and Independent Policing Oversight Authority.
This activity falls within the framework of Main Line of Action 1 “promoting an enabling environment for freedom of expression, press freedom and journalistic safety, facilitating pluralism and participation in media, and supporting sustainable and independent media institutions in Kenya”.
