Focusing on the need of persons with disabilities, the 9th China Information Accessibility Forum will be held at the China Braille Library in Beijing on 15-16 October 2013. This annual forum on accessibility of information for all including persons with disabilities (PWDs), this year will focus on “Consolidation and Integration—Accessibility Services in the All-media Age”.
The event is expected to gather more than hundred stakeholders from IT companies, universities, and relevant governmental and civil society actors. It is co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the China Disabled Persons’ Federation, and the Internet Society of China and China Foundation for Disabled Persons.
The agenda includes five sub-forums focusing on “Assistive Technologies”, “Education and Training”, “Access to Reading”, “Audio Description” and “Information Accessible Cities”.
The Communication and Information and the Education sectors of the UNESCO Office Beijing are jointly co-sponsoring the Forum, and co-organizing the “Education and Training” sub-forum with a panel discussion on ICTs for inclusive education for people with disabilities.
