DESCRIPTION:Organized under the patronage of UNESCO, the first major tempo
 rary exhibition of the Musée de l'Homme since its reopening, 'Us and Them
  – From Prejudice to Racism', proposes an original immersive scenography 
 which aims to shed new light on racist behaviour and prejudices.\n\n\nHow 
 are prejudices constructed? What is the reality of 'races' from a genetic 
 point of view? What are the arguments against the supporters of a division
  of humanity into 'races'? Why have States come to institutionalize racism
  against specific categories of individuals? These are questions which are
  central to this exhibition, which analyses the roots of this social phen
 omenon.\n\n\nAll men are equal in rights by the laws of the Republic. Gene
 tics show us that Human 'races' have no scientific legitimacy. And yet, r
 acist behaviour persists, prejudices resist.\n\n\nAt the crossroads of an
 thropology, biology, sociology and history, the exhibition is backed by
  experts’ research undertaken in the fields of social and human sciences. 
 It offers a journey that deciphers the reasons for racist and discriminato
 ry behavior during certain moments of history. It also provides keys to un
 derstanding the personal reflection to deconstruct prejudices that oftenti
 mes persist. The public is invited to understand the individual and collec
 tive mechanisms that lead to the reject of “the others” and to raise aware
 ness on modern-day discriminations.\n\n\nThe exhibition also features UNES
 CO’s International Coalition of Inclusive and Sustainable Cities – ICCAR a
 s a robust platform for combating racism and discrimination, and promotin
 g inclusion and diversity in societies. The exhibition will be officially 
 inaugurated by UNESCO.
