The activity is being held in response to the growing demand for statistics on ICTs in education. Because of this, the UNESCO Institute for Statistics and Cetic.br will work together to carry out activities to increase the production of global and regional statistics within the framework of the new education 2030 agenda.
Together with the Regional Centre for Studies on the Development of the Information Society (Cetic.br), the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) will hold this training for participants from Latin American and Spanish-speaking Caribbean countries. The workshop will take place in Sao Paulo (Brazil) on 17-18 November, 2016.

The activity is being held in response to the growing demand for statistics on ICTs in education. Because of this, the UNESCO Institute for Statistics and Cetic.br will work together to carry out activities to increase the production of global and regional statistics within the framework of the new education 2030 agenda.

These efforts are significant because the data will be used to create comparable indicators between countries in order to monitor the implementation of ICTs to formulate regional and national policies. The possibilities for making progress in measuring the degree of use of ICTs in educational institutions will also be analyzed.

The primary objectives of this meeting will be to:

1. Report on UNESCO actions in Latin America to promote and measure ICT in education;
2. Present the new Survey from the UIS on ICT in Education and identify challenges for producing this information in the different countries;
3. Report on proposed survey models for the use of ICT in educational institutions; and
4. Promote a regional model questionnaire for the national collection of statistics on ICTs in education.

Attendance at this workshop is by invitation only.
