Contribute to the 2017 Global Report - 2005 Convention
A new online platform has been created for the submission of the quadrennial Periodic Reports, due every four years after ratification by Parties to the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions.
The Periodic Reporting is essential in order to track progress on the implementation of the 2005 Convention and to help Parties plan for the future in good policy making practices. It also provides an important source of information for the biennial Global Monitoring Report, which serves as a benchmarking and monitoring tool. Published with the financial support of the Government of Sweden, this Global Monitoring Report provides analysis on current trends and identifies the successes and challenges faced by Parties and other relevant policy actors. The Report also showcases examples of innovative policies and measures. First published in December 2015, the second edition is due in December 2017.
Therefore Periodic Reports should provide qualitative and quantitative information on policies and measures Parties have taken to protect and promote the diversity of cultural expression at both the national and the international level. The reports should also provide statistical evidence, as much as possible, as well as innovative examples of measures and experiences.
In the preparation of the periodic reports, Parties must ensure the active involvement of civil society, according to jointly-agreed modalities. This process serves therefore as a unique platform for Parties for policy dialogue between Governments and civil society, especially artists and professionals from the culture sector.
To complete the Periodic Report, Parties must follow the approved “Framework for Quadrennial Periodic Report on Measures to Protect and Promote the Diversity of Cultural Expressions”, revised in June 2015, and annexed to the Operational Guidelines of the Convention on Article 9 “Information Sharing and Transparency”.
Please submit your Periodic Report through the online form. Next statutory submission deadline is 30 April 2016, but can be extended to 30 June 2016 for Parties requiring additional time for consultations.
