Developing a National Strategy on Copyright

The project aims to strengthen the enforcement of copyright law in Zimbabwe through the development of a national strategy and the creation of a platform to regularly review the strategy. The expected results of the projects include: identifying Zimbabwe’s challenges and gaps in copyright legislation; submitted recommendations on actions to strengthen the effective protection of copyright to relevant stakeholders; developing and adopting National Strategy on Copyright.

Results:

Identified the gaps in copyright legislation and listed the challenges to meet for its redesigning. Submitted recommendations on actions to strengthen the effective protection of copyright to rights holders and leaders of reproduction rights organizations. Developed and adopted a National Strategy on Copyright.

ZIMCOPY is a non-profit organization committed to the promotion of the respect for copyright in Zimbabwe. In 2014, together with UNESCO’s IFCD, Zimcopy developed a national strategy to strengthen the enforcement of copyright law in Zimbabwe and created a platform to regularly review this strategy.
