19 projects out of 51 were shortlisted following the Call for Proposals 2017/2018 to support the internationalization of Bolognese music, an initiative that aims not only at supporting the participation of musicians, artists and professionals in international festivals, tours and exchange programs but also at hosting artists from other UNESCO Creative Cities of Music.
From 3 to 6 April, Bologna, a Creative City of Music, will be hosting Dunedin, a Creative City of Literature, at the 2017 Bologna Children’s Book Fair. At the end of last year, Bologna called all members of the UCCN to reflect on the Fair’s main thematic on promoting a city’s publishing houses, illustrators, new technologies, animated films and young people fiction.
The Creative City of Music of Bologna connects the creative fields and calls for one of the Network’s member to display a stand at Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2017 which will take place from the 3 to the 6 April 2017. This world famous event for children’s and young adult publishing industry annually gathers over 25,000 visitors and showcases 1200 exhibitors, with over 98 countries represented from across the world.
Bologna, Creative City of Music, invites all members of the Network, from all creative fields, to present the application of one or more art gallery(ies) to be hosted at the 2017 SetUp Contemporary Art Fair, an innovative and independent art fair which focuses on emerging artists. The fair will take place in the same period of the exhibition ArteFiera International Exhibition of Modern and Contemporary Italian Art, from 27 to 29 January 2017.
From 28 September to 1st October, 8 projects by designers from Saint-Étienne (Design), Montréal (Design), Tel-Aviv (Media Arts), Turin (Design) have been displayed at Bologna Design Week (BDW). Bologna, Creative City of Music, in cooperation with IncrediBOL! – Bologna's Creative Innovation –, offers artists in all fields from the Creative Cities an opportunity to exhibit their projects and/or products during the 2016 Bologna Design Week.
The conservatories of Bologna and Seville, both Creative Cities of Music, are collaborating in an exchange programme dedicated to Baroque music. The initiative is part of AMANT (Academia de Música Antigua, Universidad de Sevilla), an education programme for young musicians organized by the Baroque Orchestra of Seville and by the University of Seville.
From 28 to 31 January 2016, IncrediBOL! – Bologna's Creative Innovation – and Bologna UNESCO City of Music will be inviting two artists from the UNESCO Creative Cities Network to take part in the SetUp Contemporary Art Fair and explore the topic of “Creative spillover”, in its meaning of contamination between art, traditional economic sectors and contemporary social issues.
The Creative City of Bologna (Italy) has established its first International Sustainability & Food Award. Conceived and promoted by the Agribusiness Centre of Bologna (CAAB), in collaboration with the Municipality of Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna Region, the first award ceremony took place in Milan on the occasion of EXPO 2015. The Award, which will be held every two years, aims to identify and promote scientific research and initiatives in the agricultural food (agri-food) field in the name of a long-lasting and sustainable development.
