Family farming: food and health - Spain
This year, the pupils at Isidora Riestra infant and primary school (CEIP) in Pontevedra, Spain, are developing a project on: Family farming: food and health.
We began the project in September 2013 with the process of grape harvesting, which nearly all of our pupils’ families perform. Thus, we will study food from the point of view of the agricultural cycles in our region. At the moment, we are learning about the harvesting of chestnuts, figs and maize, and how neighbours and families come together or how festivities are celebrated around the harvesting of local produce; such cooperative work practices are still alive today.
