Youth as Researchers: Invoking Empathy and Activating Young People

Organized by the UNESCO Chair in Children Youth and Civic Engagement, NUI Galway, Republic of Ireland, and the UNESCO Chair in Rural Community, Leadership, and Youth Development, Penn State University, USA. 

The Irish actor Cillian Murphy, Patron of the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre engage in conversation with young people on activating youth voice through film and youth-led research. The session address the capacity of film and research to invoke empathy and to empower youth to add their voice to issues of importance to them and influence change. It is moderated by UNESCO Chairs, Professors Pat Dolan and Mark Brennan, and feature young people who have been involved in research projects on mental health and LGBT issues.
